Grubhub $7.15 Million Settlement: How to Know If You Qualify for a Payout

Grubhub has agreed to a $7.15 million settlement after a class-action lawsuit over its practice of listing restaurants on its platforms without their consent.

If your restaurant was added to Grubhub, Seamless, or related sites without a contract, you may qualify for a payout.

What Is the Grubhub Lawsuit About?

The lawsuit claims that between January 1, 2019, and April 30, 2024, Grubhub and its affiliated brands:

…added thousands of restaurants to their directories without:

  • A signed contract with the restaurant owner, and

  • Prior authorization from the business.

Restaurants say this practice damaged their brand, misled customers, and created confusion about who was actually delivering their food.

To avoid a long trial, Grubhub agreed to create a $7.15 million settlement fund to compensate affected businesses.

Who Is Eligible for the Payout?

To qualify for compensation, your restaurant must meet all three of these requirements:

  1. Presence on an affiliated platform – Your restaurant appeared on GrubhubSeamless, or any of its related brands listed above.

  2. No signed contract – You did not have a written agreement with GrubhubSeamless, or any of these platforms at the time your restaurant was listed.

  3. Time period – Your restaurant was listed without consent between January 1, 2019, and April 30, 2024.

How Much Money Can You Get?

The $7.15 million fund will be divided among valid claimants as follows:

  • Base payment: $50 for each eligible restaurant that submits a valid claim.

  • Additional payment: A prorated extra amount based on how long your restaurant was listed without authorization.

The exact additional amount per restaurant will depend on the total number of valid claims filed.

How to Apply for the Settlement

If you believe your restaurant qualifies, follow these steps and deadlines:

  1. Find your ID and PIN – The settlement administrator sent a unique ID and PIN to affected businesses by mail or email. Use these to file your claim.

  2. Deadline to opt out – February 2, 2026 is the last day to request exclusion from the settlement if you want to sue Grubhub separately.

  3. Claim deadline – March 4, 2026 is the final date to submit your claim form online or by mail.

  4. Payment timing – After the court’s final approval hearing on April 15, 2026, approved payments will be processed and distributed.
