A guaranteed income program in Northern California is offering selected artists more than $10,000 in direct payments and the money comes with no spending restrictions.
The Creative Growth Grants (CGF) program, managed by the Sacramento Office of Arts and Culture, is designed to support working artists and cultural professionals with stable monthly income for one full year.
Here’s how it works and who can apply.
How Much Money Do Participants Receive?
This isn’t a one-time grant.
Selected participants receive:

$850 per month

For 12 consecutive months

Totaling $10,200 by August 2026
Unlike many traditional grants or scholarships, the funds come with no restrictions.

Who Is Eligible for the Program?
The program is limited to 200 selected participants, and strict requirements apply.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following:

Must live within Sacramento County

Provide proof of residence dated within the last 60 days
2. Age Requirement

Must be at least 18 years old
3. Professional Artist Requirement

Must demonstrate an active track record

Work must fall within one of the 13 recognized creative disciplines
